Light and Shadow is a journey into the most honest parts of ourselves—the parts we often hide, avoid, or deny.

This piece was born at a time when I became aware of my own shadows. Not as flaws to fix, but as essential parts of my story. As Freud once said, “We do not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.”

In creating this work, I realized that the light I had been seeking wasn’t somewhere out there—it was on the other side of my fears, wounds, and resistance.

The contrast in this painting is intentional. The textures, layered and raw, mirror the emotional landscape of transformation. Dark tones are not there to oppress, but to ground. The brighter strokes do not erase the shadows—they emerge from them, shaped by them.

Because real light doesn’t ignore the dark.
It acknowledges it. It holds it. It integrates it.

Light and Shadow is about choosing wholeness over perfection.
It’s about letting your cracks be part of your beauty.
It’s about courage—the courage to sit with discomfort long enough to hear what it has to teach.
